Progressive Building Society has marked a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to customers and the high street with the official reopening of its newly refurbished Newtownards branch.
The transformation of the Co Down branch is the first phase of a major multi-million-pound investment plan to refurbish all 11 Northern Ireland branches.
As part of this commitment, the Newtownards upgrade showcases Progressive’s dedication to providing a brighter, more modern and welcoming space for both its Members and its staff.
The refurbished premises now boasts a larger customer area, modern lighting and improved facilities, creating an inviting environment for everyone who walks through its doors.
Chief Executive Michael Boyd said the physical branch network is central to the Society's operations.
“Our branch network is vital to how we serve our customers,” he said.
“This superb upgrade is a clear example of our commitment to meeting their needs in a modern, efficient space and we are delighted with how the space has been so successfully reimagined.”
The official opening event, which took place on Tuesday February 18, was attended by Newtownards branch staff, members of the Progressive team, non-executive directors and external suppliers who contributed to the successful completion of the refurbishment.
Branch Manager Lyn Crawford said she was thrilled with the refurbishment.
“We are delighted to welcome our customers back to a newly enhanced facility,” she said.
“The larger customer area and modern features are just some of the changes that we believe will make a big difference to the experience we offer.”
This revitalisation of the Newtownards premises is part of an ambitious broader programme that aims to refresh Progressive’s entire branch estate.
Going forward, the Society has earmarked Bangor and Lisburn for refurbishment during 2025, with further upgrades planned for branches across Northern Ireland.
As part of Progressive’s investment into Newtownards, the newly refurbished branch underscores its continuing dedication to its members and the local community, particularly at a time when many other financial institutions are reducing their physical presence.
The ongoing investment in Progressive’s network ensures that the Society remains a trusted local institution, providing high-quality services to its loyal customer base.
The sustained refurbishment programme underscores Progressive’s commitment to offering modern, accessible and customer-focused services for years to come.
Designed by Todd Architects and executed by McCue’s, SCC Limited and Skope, the space now offers better functionality and provides an overall improved customer experience.
