About Progressive
Progressive Building Society is an integral part of the life of Northern Ireland despite its humble origins. Born out of the merger of 5 tiny societies it first opened its doors under the “Progressive” name in 1914. Today, the Society is Northern Ireland’s largest locally owned financial institution and has 11 branches across Northern Ireland and employs almost 200 staff.

Our Members
Mutuality
Progressive has mutual status, which means that we’re owned by and run for, the benefit of our Members. For over 100 years, we have been putting the needs of our Members first and intend to do so for many years to come.
We don’t have external shareholders, so everyone who has a savings account or a mortgage with us is a much-valued Member. The money we receive from savers goes straight back into the Society to help local people get onto or move up the property ladder.
